Collaboration

ReGo x FibreLab

Project ReGo is an initiative that uses fashion activism to raise awareness of the ongoing impact of knife crime on young people in London. The project places youth who’ve been affected by this issue with local fashion businesses to gain valuable work experience and co-create products.

FibreLab worked in collaboration with a ReGo participant to create a capsule collection of three upcycled bags. Each piece features a metal logo plate and asymmetrical loops at the strap ends, which were cut from the reclaimed knives.

Knives were collected from amnesty bins across London and remade into metal trims using a waterjet cutting technique. The process transforms the objects of violence into catalysts for positive social change.

The Patchwork Puff Bag is made from upcycled materials from the home interior sector. The outer fabrics are pieced together from sample swatch books while the inner is filled with recycled shredded fibres processed in-house by FibreLab.

The collection aims to find creative and design-led approaches to using waste materials that are too small or damaged to turn into full garments.

The metal trims were engraved with the FibreLab and ReGo logos, and then carefully stitched on by hand.

One of the features of using small waste materials is the inability to replicate the design to an exact match, making it a unique, one-of-a-kind piece.

The handle of the bag is tightly packed with recycled shredded fibre, giving it a structured and sculptural look.

The Reversible Woven Bag weaves together waste fabrics from home interior swatch books. The pieces were cut into strips and stitched together to create the length needed to weave them into a new piece of fabric.

Each side of the bag features different colour fabrics woven together to create a reversible product that can be worn multiple ways.

The Clear Plastic Tote was made using reclaimed plastic sheets - originally used to separate the layers of fabrics in a swatch book.

The plastic sheets were layered together and topstitched to create the larger pieces of material that make up the tote bag.
