Every year, more than 1.2 million tonnes of textile waste from the UK is sent to landfills and incineration.
We’re working to change that through our hyper-localised recycling service that helps businesses like yours handle textile waste while becoming more environmentally sustainable.
Our Process
We collect, sort and recycle textiles into innovative new materials.
From textile cut-offs from garment manufacturing to reject linens from hotels, our accessible and affordable service can be customised to meet your needs.

FAQs

Our minimum charge is £25 but there and we typically need at least 1-2kgs to process in a batch.
The maximum we’re taking at the moment is 1000kg but for orders over 250kg please get in touch at info@fibrelab.co.uk

Currently we’re only recycling pre-consumer or post-industrial, clean, textile waste. If your waste is uncleaned, we can have it cleaned for you prior to processing for an additional fee. For post-consumer garments, you can take these to Fxck Fast Fashion and for end-of-roll, non-IP sensitive commercial textiles that can be resold or reused, please get in touch with Yodomo.
At FibreLab we’re committed to finding a recycling solution for all types of textile waste, so we take and recycle all fibre types including cotton, polyester, mixed fibres, leather and others.
The only material we are currently unable to process is PVC. For Polyester based PVC please get in touch with Are You Mad.

Remove any pins and tape
Remove all hardware and elastic (zips, buttons, velcro, snaps, rivets)
Sort the waste by fibre type into naturals and synthetic or blended fibres. If you’re unsure of a material’s composition, it should be kept with the synthetic or blended fibres
Please only send clean textile waste

Most natural fibre textiles will be mechanically shredded and recycled at our studio and processed into PaperTex by one of our UK-based partner paper mills
Synthetic and mixed fibres are mechanically shredded and recycled into fillings for our FibreLab cushions or used to help us develop and prototype new material applications
The recycled fibre is also available for purchase on our website to use for creative applications such as filling for garments, furniture and home interior projects
We're currently working towards developing high quality fibre-to-fibre textile recycling, so one day your waste can be transformed into new, high-quality textiles

No. We have a strict zero-to-landfill, zero-to-incineration and zero-export policy. Everything we collect is recycled into new products and materials and redistributed locally, within the UK.

Yes, we offer a shredding service for anyone who would like to repurpose their textile waste for their own projects or research
Our zero-emissions collection process uses electric vehicles and refillable bags. After collection, we weigh, process and shred the textiles with our custom-built mechanical shredding machine located in our East London studio.
