PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS
PAPERTEX is a 100% recycled cotton handmade paper. Our main material sources are post-industrial waste from the hospitality industry, and offcuts from the garment manufacturing process, that are too small or damaged to be reused or repurposed.
We recycle these in our Hackney Wick studio and send the recycled fibre to one of our partner paper mills to be turned into individual handmade papers. The papers are then cut and digitally printed in-house.
At FibreLab, we keep production as local as possible - most of what we do takes place in London, and the entire process of producing PAPERTEX takes place within the UK.

DIGITAL PRINT ARTWORK GUIDELINES
Please send your finalised artwork to order@fibrelab.co.uk. Lead time is 3-5 days after we confirm the receipt of your artwork.
Colour
We offer single colour black or white digital print on all of our papers
Make sure your document is in CMYK mode and all of the artwork is in your preferred printing colour – either black or white
File Format
Set the artboard or page size to the exact measurements of the product you ordered (Business Cards: 85x55mm, Swing Tags - Option 1: 60x90mm, Swing Tags – Option 2: 50x115cm, Notecards: 105x149mm)
Provide your artwork to scale in vector format, as either a PDF or Adobe Illustrator file
Outline all of your fonts – we may not have your fonts on our system, so please make sure if you send us an Illustrator file that you’ve outlined any type
You can do this by going to Type > Create Outlines.
Save the file with a transparent background
*Note: we’ll add all the trim marks so you don’t need to worry about this. The file just needs to contain the artwork you want to see printed on the final product.
DEBOSSING / FOILING / LETTERPRESS:
Colour
Regardless of print colour, please provide your artwork as a black file
Make sure your document is in CMYK mode. All artwork should be CMY=0 and K=100%
File format
Provide your artwork to scale in vector format, as either a PDF or Adobe Illustrator file
The artboard only needs to be as big as the artwork, it doesn’t matter what
Letterpress
Minimum line widths, which also apply to the finer areas of type, (watch those serif fonts);
KF95 – 0.25pt
KF152 – 0.35pt
For Dots, we recommend the following
KF95 - 1pt diameter
KF152 - 1.25pt diameter
Outline all of your fonts – we may not have your fonts on our system, so please make sure if you send us an Illustrator file that you’ve outlined any type
You can do this by going to Type > Create Outlines - in Illustrator
Send your file as you’d like to see it printed, not reversed (for deboss)

The fibre comes primarily from the garment manufacturing industry in the form of offcuts that are too small to be repurposed, or branded uniforms that needs to be destroyed. We collect and process everything in our Hackney Wick studio, shredding it down into a raw fibre that can be remade into new products and materials.
